Help keep Brustkrebs-Kompass free

Brustkrebs-Kompass is a free app for women with breast cancer. It is and remains 100 % free: no advertising, no tracking, no data selling. All personal data stays on the user's own device.

To make that possible, real costs still come first, before the app can enter the app stores and while it runs: legal and MDR classification by a specialist lawyer, the developer accounts at Apple and Google, hosting, and ongoing maintenance. The app is built single- handedly, without an investor and without a paywall. Every contribution goes directly into these costs.

Transition in progress

The organisational structure behind Brustkrebs-Kompass is currently being restructured. To make sure every contribution reaches the correct recipient cleanly from day one, the payment channels are paused until the new structure is in place. Until then I deliberately do not accept any payments.

Once the transition is complete, all ways to support the project will be available here again. If you would like to be notified, write to team@brustkrebs-kompass.de.

Support without money

While the payment channels are paused, visibility helps most. For practices, clinics, counselling services and support groups there is a ready-made notice block to embed on your own site. It is fully styled, loads nothing from outside and sets no cookies.

What your contribution funds

Stage 1 · Goal: 8,000 €

Clearing the starting hurdle. So the app can enter the app stores officially and on solid legal ground.

Specialist lawyer for MDR classification (written assessment: medical device yes or no)
Developer accounts at Apple and Google (year 1)
Hosting, domain, Supabase (year 1)
Small reserve for unforeseen items

Stage 2 · Stretch goal: 30,000 €

Only if required. If the lawyer's review concludes the app is classified as a Class I medical device.

Technical documentation and risk management per ISO 14971
CE conformity assessment so the app can operate as a certified medical device in the EU
Clinical evaluation of the content

Then · International

Once the EU hurdle is cleared, the UK (MHRA) and Switzerland (Swissmedic) come next with similar requirements, later the US. That stage is funded from ongoing support, plus translation editing into further languages.

What does not happen

No advertising, no data sales. No funder influences our content or assessments.
No data sharing with health insurers, research or advertisers
No hidden premium features
No affiliate commissions for recommendations
No sale to an investor with return expectations

Note on tax deductibility. The operator is a private individual, not a non-profit organisation (no registered association, no foundation, no charitable company). Contributions are voluntary support, not donations in the tax-law sense. Donation receipts with tax deductibility under § 10b EStG (German Income Tax Act) are therefore currently not possible. On request I can issue a simple confirmation of receipt.
