Guide & test notes
This short guide is for professionals and testers (oncology, nutritional medicine, gynaecology, patient support groups, and medical-device-law advisors) who are reviewing the "Brustkrebs-Kompass" app in advance, on an iPhone or on an Android phone.
1. Install the app
How you get the app depends on your device. Please read only the section that applies to you. In both cases you need an invitation from me first, sent to exactly the email address you gave in the form.
On an iPhone, via TestFlight
On iPhone the app is distributed through Apple TestFlight. The invitation goes to your Apple ID.
- Install the free TestFlight app from the App Store: apps.apple.com/app/testflight
- Open the invitation link you received by email on your iPhone.
- Follow the invitation and install "Brustkrebs-Kompass".
On an Android phone, via Google Play
On Android the app is distributed through the internal test track of Google Play. The invitation goes to your Google account, meaning exactly the address you are signed in with on your phone in the Play Store. Any other address will not work.
- Nothing to prepare, the Play Store is already on your phone.
- Open the invitation link you received by email on your phone and tap "Become a tester".
- Then follow the link into the Play Store and install "Brustkrebs-Kompass" like any other app. Updates arrive automatically from then on.
If you previously installed the app from a file (APK), please uninstall it once before installing from the Play Store. The two builds are signed differently and cannot replace each other.
On both devices: no account and no login are required. All features are accessible without signing in.
2. Load a demo patient (recommended)
So you do not have to fill the app with your own data first, there are prepared sample patients. To load one:
- In the app, go to Settings.
- Open the "Demo personas" section.
- Choose a sample patient and confirm.
All areas (symptoms, blood values, medication, therapy, journal) are then filled with realistic sample data, so you see the app as it works in real use.
Note: loading a demo patient overwrites existing local data. For testers this is uncritical. You can reset everything via "Clear demo data" in the same section. The demo mode is only visible in the test versions and is not included in the later public App Store build.
3. What the app offers
- Foods: database with search and filters (pH, PRAL, estrogen impact, phyto level), detail views with sources and medication interactions.
- Recipes: filterable by condition and preparation time.
- Mindset: affirmations, breathing exercises, gratitude, thought journal.
- Therapy: medication management with intake tracking and interactions, chemo cycles, radiotherapy, neuropathy, lymphedema, self-examination.
- More areas: symptom journal, blood values with trends, emergency pass, cosmetics check, hair care, research feed, knowledge hub.
4. Important notes
- Medical disclaimer: the app does not replace medical advice, diagnosis or therapy. Corresponding notices are shown in the app.
- Privacy: all personal data stays local and encrypted on the device. There is no tracking, no analytics and no transfer of user-entered health data to servers. Public content is loaded via Supabase, Open Food Facts, PubMed and Semantic Scholar. Details in the privacy policy (German).
- Content sources: public content (foods, recipes, medications) is loaded read-only from a database.
